Project Report: Illuminating Tribal lives

Title: Solar Inverters for Free Electricity in Tribal Areas of Raigad

Submitted By: Thrive Foundation

Executive Summary

This project aims to provide sustainable electricity to 200 tribal households in the Raigad district by installing solar inverters. The initiative focuses on promoting renewable energy and improving the quality of life for marginalized communities by providing free, clean, and reliable electricity. The project aligns with Thrive Foundation's commitment to sustainable development and empowerment of tribal populations.

Project Background

The tribal areas of Raigad face challenges in accessing reliable electricity. Most households rely on kerosene lamps, which are not only expensive but also hazardous to health and the environment. The lack of electricity affects basic necessities such as education, healthcare, and livelihoods. This project addresses the urgent need for an alternative energy source.

Objective

  • To provide 200 tribal households with free electricity through the installation of solar inverters.
  • To promote the use of renewable energy and reduce dependence on non-renewable resources.
  • To improve the living standards and economic opportunities for the tribal population.

Scope of the Project

  • Location:     Tribal areas of Raigad district (Uddhar Village).
  • Target Beneficiaries: 200 households with an approximate population of 1,000 people.
  • Technology: Solar inverters powered by photovoltaic panels.

Implementation Plan

Phase 1: Community Engagement

  • Conduct meetings with community leaders to explain the project and its benefits.
  • Ensure community involvement in the planning and execution stages.

Phase 2: Survey and Assessment

  • Identify suitable rooftops or land for solar panel installation.
  • Assess electricity requirements for each household.

Phase 3: Procurement and Installation

  • Procure solar panels, inverters, and batteries from certified vendors.
  • Employ trained technicians to install the systems.

Phase 4: Training and Maintenance

  • Train community members to maintain and troubleshoot the solar inverters.
  • Set up a local team for periodic maintenance and repairs.

Financial Plan

Inverters and Batteries                    40,00,000

Installation Charges                            20,00,000

Training and Capacity Building              5,00,000

Miscellaneous                                      5,00,000

_________________________________________________________

Total                                                1,30,00,000

Funding Sources

  • Grants from government renewable energy schemes.
  • CSR funding from private companies.
  • Donations from individuals and philanthropic organizations.

Expected Outcomes

  • Free electricity for 200 households.
  • Improved education and healthcare access.
  • Reduced household expenditure on kerosene and other non-renewable energy sources.
  • Contribution to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monthly monitoring of electricity generation and usage.
  • Regular feedback sessions with beneficiaries.
  • Annual impact assessment to evaluate socio-economic improvements.

Conclusion

This project is a significant step toward empowering the tribal communities of Raigad by providing them with sustainable energy solutions. By addressing their energy needs, we aim to create a lasting impact on their quality of life, health, and economic opportunities. Thrive Foundation seeks the support of stakeholders to bring this initiative to fruition.
